Meaning of Fear

2 min read

Fear defined

  • A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger.
  • A state or condition marked by this feeling: living in fear.
  • A feeling of disquiet or apprehension: a fear of looking foolish.

Well, I don’t really care what the dictionary thinks about fear…

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears~Les Brown”

Fear is the greatest enemy of success. Those who fear don’t get anywhere in life. The only thing you should fear is fear itself. Fear is not a good feeling; it takes a lot of strength and courage to overcome your fears. It took me a lot of courage to overcome some of my fears. Overcoming your fears will give you the courage and strength to overcome life’s biggest obstacles.

I read an inspiring quote a long time ago that read, “Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” Fear is nothing more than an obstacle that stands in between you and your dreams, it stops you from achieving your dreams and goals. The moment you let go of the fear you truly will feel free and in control.

“Being brave isn’t the absence of fear. Being brave is having that fear but finding a way through it.”

I have been afraid of many things in my life. The long list includes spiders, heights, darkness, clowns, roller coasters. I had a huge fear of riding roller coasters. I always thought something bad would happen and feared that I would fall off or something. Only after I rode the roller coaster did I realize that I had no reason to fear and that I really enjoyed the ride. Fear has never helped anyone. So the only thing you should fear is fear itself.

“If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy”- Dale Carnegie.
