The Art Of Self Confidence

3 min read

“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”
-Theodore Roosevelt.

Self-confidence isn’t an easy thing to gain. It takes time, effort, persistence, basically, it’s a lot of work. If someone seems to have incredible self-confidence, they have worked on it for years. Here’s what I have to say about self-confidence

It’s not impossible to gain it. Here’s how.

Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

Just stop. You know that you do it occasionally. You look at famous people and see where they are, and then you just look down on yourselves. That is the worst thing to do. Comparing yourselves to others definitely won’t make you better, all its going to do is make you sad. Everyone is on their own path in life and everyone has their own story. Comparing your life to others just doesn’t make any sense.

Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

You need to get out of our comfort zone to truly grow. In order to gain self-confidence, you need to conquer your fears. You need to do the unimaginable. You need to go out and do the things you fear the most. And I’m not talking about small fears, I’m talking about the big ones. Ones like the fear of public speaking, the fear of heights, or the fear of snakes. You grow as a person and you gain confidence to conquer your next fears in life. So here’s the advice. Go out and try to do one thing that scares you, every day.

Ignore The Haters

Hater’s gonna hate, they always will. That’s their purpose. You need to be better than them, rise above the haters. Show them who you truly are. Follow your dreams and don’t give up, because the haters will never go. You are stronger than them, and you need to prove that to them. DO WHAT THEY SAY YOU CAN’T

Believe In Yourself

Believe in yourself. Lack of self-confidence occurs when you stop believing in yourself. You are stronger than you may think, and you need to understand that no one can stop you, but yourself. Many times, the greatest enemy against achieving your dreams is yourself. Don’t let that happen. Set your goals and never stop until you accomplish them.

Now here’s the thing with personal goals. There are no deadlines behind personal goals. Think about it, there are deadlines for every other goal set in our life. Homework, projects, rent, etc, but not for personal goals. Having no deadlines means that our personal goals get pushed further and further. You need to create deadlines around these personal goals. You need to also create accountability. Now you may ask how you can create accountability.

Did you know that you are 40 percent more likely to achieve your dreams just by writing them down? Also if you talk about your dreams to others, you feel accountable to the people who you just told. If you have an accountability buddy, you are 77 percent more likely to achieve your dreams.

Stop Waiting For Inspiration

People at the end of their lives do not regret the things they did, they regret the things they didn’t do. In a study, 76 percent of people, on their deathbed, said that they regretted not living their ideal life. So, how do you escape this faith?

You stop waiting to feel inspired. That’s how you do it. In the study, the majority of the 76 percent of people who didn’t live their ideal life, said that they were waiting to feel inspired to do so. The thing is that inspiration never comes to you, you need to go find it. Inspiration is created through movement and action. By taking a step toward accomplishing your goals, inspiration is created.

Self-confidence takes time to gain, but if you push yourself and if you really try it’s possible. If you do all the things I talked about and if you truly commit to your dreams, it is possible to gain self-confidence. You just need to put the effort forward.
